$9.50 (Seafood + Chicken)
Now I will be honest right from the start, this was not the restaurant that I had in mind when I made the trip to Parramatta. The only reason that it got a look in was because the place that I had travelled so far to get to was closed, and I wasn't going to go home disappointed. That and the fact that I had managed to rope in a couple of other laksa lovers along for the trip. It was to be "Laksa or Laksa" there was no other option, so in we filed one by one.
Apart from the slightly disappointing start and with laksa in mind it is laksa we order.

So okay, you may have picked up it is a Vietnamese Restaurant and you are about to say Laksa is not a dish from Vietnam, and I agree its not. But that's not going to stop me from trying it anyway...
After ordering our choice of Laksa we all sit about and wait patiently. The first thing I do notice (seeing as we are sitting beside the kitchen door) is that there is a lot of Laksa coming out in big bowls so either it is a popular dish here or they are all doing the same seeing as the other Laksa Restaurant
seems to be shut .... either way there is plenty of Laksa being served out. Soon the big bowls stop going past our table and we are all presented with our own big bowls of steaming broth.
Now the first thing I notice is that it is that the bowl contains all vermicelli noodles. Now I don't mind a mix of both hokkien and rice noodle but all rice noodle is just a bit too much 'itsy bitsy' noodle for me. The rest of the bowl, although big, looks a little sparse of a few things maybe a bit of tofu? I know its not a big thing and sometimes I don't even eat all of it but I sure miss it when its gone.
Now on to the important thing the broth. Although its not spicy it certainly taste's of Laksa I just think that the sauce could do with a bit of thickening up and we would be off to a better start, apart from that there was a few prawns and enough chicken to feed my desire.

So what can I say really, It was not the best Laksa that I have ever had, but it certainly tasted of Laksa and filled the disappointed hole from the was instilled by the first place being shut.
Either way I had a good lunch with some great friends and I walked away smiling at the end.

Verdict - Not the best one around but nothing wrong with it either |
