Laksa

Sometimes you have to go it alone, and today was one of those days. Faced with a couple of hours to kill, while in the city and with a hunger for a new Laksa. I find myself outside a place on Bourke St in the city. So with out too much thought in I go.

So the first decision I need to make was Laksa or Chicken Laksa, today I went for the straight up Laksa, the next choice was what sort of noodles I would like with my Laksa, I had a choice of about 5 different noodles ranging from rice noodles to hokkien, I quickly choose hokkien and moved on ...

Well first impressions are everything and what I see here is a lot of fish cake, a fair bit of egg and a very small prawn, not a particularly good start. The curry soup itself has that very familiar yellow red toxic glow and smell that always gets me going but unfortunately apart from that there is much going on in this Laksa at all. What you see is what you get yes there is the occasional bit of tofu that has soaked up that soup but after that it's just a lot of noodles and fish cake; even the prawn on top was a bit dry.

And although there is a Chicken Laksa also on the menu I do not think that I was impressed enough the first time to worry about coming back especially when there are so many more Laksa's to try.
So unless fish cake is your thing then I would probably not try the Laksa here.
